A Closer Look at Each Step

A carefully planned IMSI journey, combining personalised fertility care with precision embryology.

01— Evaluation & Personalised Planning

Your journey begins with understanding both partners. Your fertility history, ovulation, ovarian reserve, reproductive health and semen parameters may be evaluated to understand whether IUI is an appropriate option for you.

02— Ovulation Tracking & Stimulation

Your natural cycle may be monitored, or fertility medications may be recommended to support follicle development. Ultrasound scans and, where required, hormone tests help your specialist identify the appropriate time for insemination.

03—Sperm Collection & Preparation

A semen sample is collected and carefully prepared in the laboratory. The sample is processed to concentrate suitable motile sperm for insemination.

04 — Intrauterine Insemination

Around the time of ovulation, the prepared sperm is gently placed directly into the uterus using a thin catheter. The procedure is usually brief and does not generally require anaesthesia.

05— The Wait & Pregnancy Test

After insemination, you can usually return to your routine based on your specialist’s advice. Then comes the wait. A pregnancy test is planned at the appropriate time to determine whether conception has occurred.

Understanding IUI: From Process to Possibilities

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment in which a prepared sperm sample is placed directly inside the uterus around the time of ovulation. This shortens the distance sperm need to travel and increases the number of suitable sperm reaching closer to the egg.
IUI may be considered in selected cases involving ovulation-related concerns, certain cervical factors, mild male-factor infertility, unexplained infertility or other situations where your fertility specialist considers insemination appropriate.
Preparing for Your IUI Journey

Every IUI journey begins by understanding whether insemination is the appropriate treatment for you.

Fertility Evaluation
Your fertility and medical history are reviewed, and relevant investigations may be recommended for both partners. These can include ovulation assessment, ultrasound, evaluation of the fallopian tubes and semen analysis.
Personalised IUI Planning
Your specialist determines whether a natural-cycle or stimulated IUI approach is appropriate based on your age, ovulation, fertility diagnosis, test results and previous treatment history.
Ovulation Monitoring
Ultrasound scans are used to monitor follicular development and help determine when ovulation is likely to occur.
Ovulation Induction, When Required
In selected cases, fertility medications may be recommended to support follicle development and ovulation.
Timing the IUI
Depending on your cycle and treatment plan, natural ovulation may be tracked or medication may be used to help appropriately time insemination.
From Sperm Preparation to Insemination
Careful timing and laboratory preparation come together on the day of IUI.
Sperm Collection
A semen sample is collected according to the instructions provided by the fertility team.
Sperm Preparation
The sample is processed in the laboratory to concentrate suitable motile sperm for insemination.
Insemination
The prepared sperm is gently introduced into the uterus through a thin catheter around the time of ovulation.
A Short Procedure
IUI usually takes only a few minutes and generally does not require anaesthesia.
After the Procedure
You may be asked to rest briefly before leaving the clinic. Most patients can return to their usual activities based on their specialist’s advice.
The Wait, the Test & What Comes Next
Your care continues after the insemination.
Post-IUI Care
Take any prescribed medications as advised and follow the activity and lifestyle recommendations provided by your fertility specialist.
The Waiting Period
The days following IUI can naturally bring anticipation and questions. Symptoms during this period are not a reliable way to determine whether pregnancy has occurred.
Pregnancy Test
Your fertility team will advise when to perform a pregnancy test based on your cycle and treatment protocol.
If the Test Is Positive
Your specialist will guide you regarding follow-up testing and appropriate early-pregnancy monitoring.
If the Test Is Negative
One unsuccessful IUI cycle does not necessarily determine what happens next. Your specialist can review the cycle and discuss whether another IUI attempt or a different fertility treatment may be appropriate.

The IUI treatment cost in Hyderabad can vary depending on your treatment plan, fertility medications, monitoring scans, investigations and whether additional procedures or tests are required.

Every IUI cycle is different. Outcomes can be influenced by factors including age, ovulation, fallopian-tube health, sperm parameters, underlying fertility concerns and the duration of infertility.
There is no single IUI success rate that applies to everyone. Your individual chances depend on several clinical factors, which your fertility specialist can discuss after evaluating both partners.

Questions You May Have Before Starting IUI

It’s natural to have questions before beginning fertility treatment. Here are some answers to help you understand the IUI treatment process with greater clarity.

IUI is generally a brief procedure and is usually well tolerated. Some women may experience mild cramping or temporary discomfort during or shortly after insemination.

With IUI, prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus around ovulation, and fertilisation still takes place inside the body. With IVF, eggs are retrieved and fertilised with sperm in an embryology laboratory before an embryo is transferred into the uterus.

There is no fixed number for everyone. Your specialist may consider factors such as age, fertility diagnosis, ovarian response, sperm parameters and previous treatment before recommending whether to repeat IUI or consider another treatment.

The IUI success rate varies from person to person. Age, ovulation, fallopian-tube health, sperm quality and the underlying cause of infertility can all influence treatment outcomes.

Your fertility specialist will advise the appropriate testing date. Testing too early can sometimes produce misleading results, particularly when fertility medications have been used.
