THE FET PROCESS
01 —Consultation & Cycle Planning
02 — Preparing the Uterine Lining
02 — Preparing the Uterine Lining
The uterus is prepared to create an appropriate environment for embryo transfer.
This may involve monitoring your natural cycle or using prescribed medications to support the development of the endometrial lining.
03 — Monitoring & Planning the Right Time
04 — Embryo Thawing & Transfer
04 — Embryo Thawing & Transfer
The selected frozen embryo is carefully thawed in the embryology laboratory and assessed.
When appropriate for transfer, the embryo is gently placed into the uterus using a thin catheter.

Understanding Frozen Embryo Transfer
FET FAQs
It’s natural to have questions during the treatment journey. Here are some answers to help you understand OITI with greater clarity.
1. What is the difference between fresh and frozen embryo transfer?
In a fresh transfer, an embryo is transferred during the same general IVF treatment cycle in which the eggs were retrieved. In FET, an embryo is frozen and transferred during a later cycle.
2. Do I need IVF again before an FET?
If suitable frozen embryos from an earlier treatment cycle are available, ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval are generally not required again for that transfer.
3. Is frozen embryo transfer painful?
Embryo transfer is generally a short procedure and many patients experience little or mild temporary discomfort.
4. How long does a frozen embryo transfer cycle take?
The timeline varies depending on whether a natural or medication-supported protocol is used and how the uterine lining responds.
5. How successful is frozen embryo transfer?
There is no single FET success rate applicable to everyone. Outcomes can be influenced by several factors, including age at egg retrieval, embryo characteristics, uterine factors and individual reproductive health.
6. Can frozen embryos remain stored for future pregnancies?
Embryos can be cryopreserved for future use subject to appropriate storage, consent, clinical and applicable regulatory requirements.
